Ortivus successfully completes the transition of two major customers into a new hosting environment

Following an intensive period of planning, the MobiMed installations for South Western Ambulance Service Trust and South Central Ambulance Service Trust have been successfully transitioned to a new hosting environment with minimum downtime and no incidents. South Western (SWAST) and South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) Trust have been working with Ortivus since early 2000, using the MobiMed Electronic Patient Record (ePR) and monitoring solution.
Following the Southern Ambulance Programme procurement award in 2013, Ortivus setup a data centre hosting solution in ByFleet, Surrey in collaboration with Hytec to provide a fully-managed MobiMed service to the trusts. In connection with the new contract awards for SWAST and SCAS in 2020, Ortivus started planning how to provide a hosting environment to meet the new customer and NHS requirements. There was a need to upgrade servers, implement new operating systems and updated software along with ensuring appropriate security, resilience and performance required for delivering 24/7 high-availability services for the NHS. This two-year project run in collaboration with their secure hosting, security and information governance partner Hytec, planned every step in detail to ensure smooth transition. MobiMed is running in over 1700 ambulances and clinical workstations with approximately 7 new ePR cases started every minute for our managed-service customers, hence, it was of great importance that the operations were not interrupted any longer than the planned service window of two hours. Following a downtime of just 30 minutes, where backend services were unavailable but front-line clinical staff were able to continue working, Ortivus and Hytec delivered the new data hosting center with no incident. “Thanks to a very experienced team we have worked together to solve every issue on the way. We took our time to carefully plan the transfer and everything worked impressively well” – Says Kenneth Eklund, COO, Ortivus “It is crucial that the Paramedics have access to the mission critical Ortivus ModiMed Patient monitoring and electronic patient records system when they needed it. The system interfaces with NHS Spine services, All the Trust’s CAD systems and AD environments, which makes any transition particularly tricky, and requires a great deal of planning and testing due to the scale of the data. With meticulous planning we worked with Ortivus and jointly delivered a plan that ensured that the work was completed in a quarter the planned time. At a time when the ambulance service is more essential than ever, we are very proud to be part of such an important project that delivers such a positive impact” – Says Alan Hunt, Director, Hytec About Ortivus Ortivus develops and commercialises MobiMed, medical technology solutions for a safer and more efficient healthcare.
