Ortivus has been awarded a contract to deliver its pre-hospital MobiMed electronic patient care record (“ePCR”) system to South Central Ambulance Service Trust (SCAST).
The new contract has been awarded through the West Midlands Ambulance Service Foundation Trust Framework for the Supply of Ambulance Electronic Patient Record System, under which Ortivus is a supplier. The fully managed MobiMed service includes delivery of ePCR software, hardware, 24/7 support and hosting of electronic patient records. SCAST handles over 100,000 patient calls per month and has approximately 470 vehicles. The total value of the 5-year order is £4.7M. Installation is expected to start during 2020 and the agreement is valid over a five-year period with an option to extend by up to two years. The optional years have a value of £1.5M.

Ortivus has been working to provide their MobiMed solution as a fully managed ePCR service with SCAST since contract signature in 2013. The initial contract was for a period of 4 years and subsequently extended to the maximum length of 6 years.
Planning for the new solution shall begin during first quarter of 2020, with system commissioning to start during 2020. Ortivus will continue to deliver the current services until the new solution is commissioned.
SCAST has responsibility for the provision of ambulance services which is handled from 102 sites. The Trust covers the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey and Sussex.
The Trust serves a total population of over 7 million and in the last 12 months SCAST attended 483,000 incidents for 999, over 1.2 million calls to NHS 111 and undertook over 800,000 patient transport journeys.
SCAST employ over 3800 mainly clinical and operational staff (including Paramedics, Emergency Care Practitioners, Advanced Technicians, Ambulance Care Assistants and Nurse Practitioners) plus GPs and around 1,000 community and co-responders.
