How to optimize the Paramedics daily work?

Documentation is probably the last thing in the minds of an EMS-crew responding as first unit to a “bad scene”

An emergency pre-hospital scene could be virtually anywhere humans are to be found. It could be an elderly male with suspected AMI in a private residence; it could be an unidentified person in the middle of a busy street. A pre-hospital setting could be at 1am in a crowded subway station, or it could be at 3pm in a nursing home.

The challenge for all EMS-personnel around the world includes a wide range of scenarios in all possible kinds of settings, surroundings and weather conditions. EMS-personnel need to be there 24 / 7 / 365; ready to go within seconds from a dispatch call.

Ortivus is also there as a partner at the scene with solutions that support the EMS team in providing the accurate care to anyone anywhere.

Dispatch data needs to be received and handled, giving the EMS-crew a chance of mentally preparing for the mission ahead.

Once at the scene, location needs to be secured and emergency care procedures needs to be followed. A number of standards, more or less, affect the way EMS personnel conducts their work on the field; PHTLS, AMLS, CPR to name a few. Vital signs needs to be monitored, treatment and medications needs to be administered in a swift and professional manner, and the care and processes carried out documented in order to guarantee patient security and care quality.

In the meantime at the local hospital, the physician on call already knows what’s going on out in the field. Through the Clinical Workstation, everyone in the hospitals receiving team can follow the real-time observations, assessments and vital data of the patient registered on site by the EMS-crew.

The remote pre-hospital scope is brought inside the walls of the hospital, and the hospital is brought out to the field via telemedicine, real-time electronic patient records and the two-way chat function. Every relevant stakeholder linked together, creating a platform for building pre-hospital e-health with unlimited possibilities.

Three weeks later back at the station, the manager of an ambulance-organization needs to create a report of all EMS-activities carried out the last quarter. It’s all there in the MobiMed database; every patient, every condition, every call, every disposable being used, every medication being administered, every observation, every day. It’s all easy accessible for creating data-sheets, enabling an uncompromised way of following up the results produced by an EMS-organization.
